Task Description:

As covalently attached modifications of lipids and proteins glycans are involved in several biological processes. The planned project aims to investigate the role of carbohydrates on fish eggs as well as sperms. Particular focuses will be placed on the protection against pathogens as well as on egg fertilization. The study will be performed in close collaboration with the group of Tom Goldammer (Fish Genetics Unit of the FBN). Furthermore, the development of novel highly sensitive HPLC- and MS-based strategies for in-depth characterization of glycans will be part of the project.

Our young research group is looking for a candidate with a master’s degree, a diploma or a comparable qualification in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or veterinary medicine. The candidate is expected to be a highly motivated team player. First knowledge of techniques/applications in cellular biology, molecular biology and instrumental analysis are required. Moreover, good knowledge of English (oral and written skills) is essential.
