Development of a Battery Assembly Line for Renewable Energy Applications

The thesis will be carried out in collaboration between Project Competence E and the Institute for Intelligent Process Control and Robotics (IPR).

Competence E is a project aiming to develop industrially applicable cost-efficient solutions for energy storage systems and electric drive trains of the next generations. The IPR is a research lab within the Institute for Anthropomatics and Robotics (IAR) active in the fields of industrial, service and medical robotics.

Within this project, you will work with a team of scientists on the development of an industrial solution for a specific renewable energy application. Using state-of-the-art in industrial robotics, your main tasks will be the programming and commissioning of a robotic arm as part of a battery assembly line. Besides technical aspects, safety and quality also have to be considered for optimizing the overall automated line. The technical challenges include the analysis and simulation of the forces affecting the robotic arm during the process and the identification of the best design configuration.
